LEAGUE 3 WEST A

NEYLAND took the bragging rights in their local derby with old rivals Llangwm on Saturday, coming away with a 17-8 win.

The win also sees Neyland claim the Sutton Cup, played for between the two teams over the two league games each season.

The Pembrokeshire All Blacks had won the first game 41-3 at Pill Parks but knew they would not be able to sit on their 38-point advantage.

Ben Williams has been in top form for Neyland and is their top try-scorer this season and it was he who got them going early on.

George Evans added a difficult conversion for an early 7-0 lead.

Llangwm then hit back with an unconverted try from Jack Roberts.

Adam Hooper-Peel then made a great angled run to score Neyland's second try of the game. The missed conversion left the score at 12-5.

Iwan Davies landed a penalty for the Wasps but it was Neyland who powered over again next, captain Owain Evans getting their third try.

Neyland hung on to seal their seventh win of the season. They have one home game left to play against title chasing Haverfordwest which is yet to be arranged.

ABERAERON moved to the top of the League 3 West A table on Saturday as they beat Cardigan 24-7.

Aber visit Haverfordwest next weekend knowing a win could all but confirm the league title.

However, Haverfordwest still have two further games to play and will go all out to try and get themselves back on top of the table.

LAUGHARNE were also victorious on Saturday winning 90-8 against the league's bottom side Llanybydder.

Liam Price and Tyler Reynolds both scored a hat trick of tries for the home side. Owain Thomas went over twice and others came from Nico Setaro, Thomas Waters, Tomos Rees, Iwan Lewis, Carl Smith and Aled Thomas.

Setaro added ten conversions for a personal points haul of 25.

Laugharne also have a number of games in hand on the teams around them, including one against Haverfordwest, and they too will also be looking to claim the league title.

LEAGUE 2 WEST

FISHGUARD were another side to claim bragging rights on Saturday as they beat Milford Haven 22-13 at The Obs.

Milford were looking for revenge after being beaten 24-15 by Fishguard on the opening day of the season but it was Fishguard who took the lead.

James Griffiths landed a penalty and Jake Jenkins then scored the first try of the game for the Seagulls.

James Trueman responded for Milford with a penalty but Fishguard were soon on the attack again and went over once more, Sion Colella touching down. Griffiths added the extra two points.

Milford trailed 6-15 at the break after another Trueman penalty and knew a score early in the second half would bring them right back into it.

However it was Fishguard who went over again with Rhys Lewis getting his name on the scoresheet. Griffiths again converted.

Steve Martin then got Milford's first try of the game and Trueman added the extras bringing the score to 13-22.

It wasn't enough to spark a comeback for Milford and Fishguard were able to see the game out.

TENBY United's promotion to League 1 West was confirmed on Saturday despite being beaten 17-16 by Pontyberem.

Results elsewhere mean they can no longer be caught in second place.

Cam Broadhurst and Kyle Rossiter both scored tries for Tenby while Harry Rossitter added two penalties.

Tenby had beaten the Bont 64-19 at Heywood Lane earlier in the season but they could not repeat that result.

The Bont are fighting relegation and the win takes them out of the bottom three.

WRU CHAMPIONSHIP WEST

CRYMYCH suffered a narrow defeat on Saturday as they were beaten 27-24 in the WRU Championship West.

Trebanos pulled away early on and built up a 19-0 lead. Dafydd Phillips scored a try on the stroke of half time and Ifan Davies added the extras.

Ianto Davies scored early in the second half for Crymych and Ifan Davies again added the extras.

Trebanos added an unconverted try to take the score to 24-14.

Iestyn Wood then got Crymych's third try and Ifan Davies added the conversion.

Davies then added a penalty to level the game up and there was still time to find a winner.

It went the way of Trebanos though who scored a late penalty to take the win, leaving Crymych with a losing bonus point.

NARBERTH were victorious on Saturday as they beat Maesteg Quins 35-10.

That was their 19th win of the season and keeps them four points ahead of second placed Brecon with two games left to play.

Narberth are in action on Saturday, April 20, when they host fourth placed Bonymaen.
