Carew (302-5) smacked Whitland (199-9) all over the field in a 500-run contest. Carew won the toss and batted first, Shaun Whitfield (84), Gareth Lewis (74no) and Noah Davies (52) all contributing more than 50 to their side's massive total. Matthew Davies (2-59) and Cian Rees (1-38) formed the majority of Whitland’s limited success with the ball, the former being the only bowler to strike more than once. Whitland batted fairly well in reply, Kevin Pearce (64), Jacob Hucker (32no) and Gethin Scourfield (28) giving them a fighting chance. Whilst Whitland did manage to see out the full 45 overs, the likes of Shaun Whitfield (3-37) and George Waters (2-12) kept them well short of the target.
St Ishmaels (147-2) beat Burton (146ao) by 8 wickets. St Ishmaels chose to field after winning the toss, Andrew Pawlett (3-18), Brennan Devonald (2-11), Steve Williams (2-29) and Dylan McGuire (1-3) all finding success at keeping the opposition relatively quiet. Toby Hayman top scored for Burton on just 20, his side reaching the total of 146 through many small contributions. Opener Thomas Williams (58no), Jonathan Pawlett (39) and Phil Cockburn (27no) made comfortable work of the chase in the second innings, taking 36 overs but never appearing in danger of a collapse. Burton’s lone two wickets were taken by Nicholas Jones (1-21) and Gavin Campbell (1-29).
Lawrenny (71-0) pulled off a statement 10-wicket win over Narberth (70ao). Narberth won the toss and batted, dribbling to a disappointing collapse. Ben Quartermaine (28) and Jamie McCormack (13) made the biggest impression with the bat, but Ryan Morton (6-21) produced a devastating spell with Finley Lewis (3-8) following suit, bowling them out for just 70. After the break, Charlie Arthur (57no) and Rhys Daley (8no) knocked off the runs by themselves, coasting to a victory that will have the sides above them in the table checking over their shoulder.
Cresselly (128-4) did away with Neyland (127ao) by 6 wickets. Neyland won the toss and batted first. Paul Murray (41) top scored, Sean Hannon (16), Dai Davies (15) and Jack John (15) all chipping in with smaller totals. Griff Jenkins (3-23), Mike Shaw (2-26) and Tom Arthur (2-27) proved dangerous on the day, seeing the opposition off for a total they would be happy to chase. After teas, Griff Jenkins (42) and Lewis Mason (19no) did just that, Tom Murphy (18) throwing in a few important runs. Jack John (4-37) fought hard to give Neyland a chance, but his side failed to find wickets elsewhere before Cresselly could push the total over the line.
Saundersfoot (180-5) beat out Herbrandston (179ao) in a 5-wicket victory. Herbrandston won the toss and elected to bat, Jack Nicholas (54) the standout performer. Dean John (21), Harry Nicholas (17) and Nathan Banner (14) supported, opposing the unit of Matthew Phillips (4-42), Sam Franklin (2-35) and Jon Mansbridge (2-23) who shared out the wickets to dismiss them for 179. In the second innings, John Mansbridge (86no) took control, virtually winning the game for his side. Sam Franklin (25) chipped in usefully, eventually falling to Nathan Banner (3-17) who was the only Herbrandston bowler to make a sizeable dent. Saundersfoot surpassed the total in a late but controlled fashion, sparing just 14 balls with 5 men in the shed.
