Cresselly re-claim top spot in Division One following their five wicket victory over Neyland. Cresselly, playing away from home, won the toss and decided to bowl. Both Charlie and Tom Arthur impressed yet again for Cresselly, which they have done all season. Charlie picked up four wickets (4-17), whilst Tom also took two (2-13). Andrew Miller was the only Neyland batsman to achieve double figures, as he ended the innings 19 not out. Christian Phillips picked up a further three wickets for the visitors for only five runs, seeing Neyland bowled out for 58. Neyland made Cresselly work for the victory however, picking up five wickets before the visitors were able to secure the victory. Ross Hardy picked up the wickets of the two opening Cresselly batsmen in the first three overs of the innings. He then went on to dismiss Cresselly top scorer Charlie Arthur (32) in the tenth over, as he ended with 3-24. This left Cresselly 45-3, however with only 14 runs required to win. Alex Bayley (12no) and Dan James remained at the crease to ensure Cresselly returned to top of the table with a 16 point victory.
Lawrenny gave Cresselly a great helping-hand as they beat Carew at home. Lawrenny also opted to bowl after winning the toss, with Oscar and Finley Lewis once again providing wickets for their side. Oscar ended his spell with the impressive figures of 4-10 and Finley collecting the figures of 3-35. Brian Hall (40) and Shaun Whitfield (35) did their best to push the score on, however Jamie Lewis (2-36) made it 9 wickets under the Lewis name on the scorecard as Carew were bowled out for 135. The Carew bowlers were not going to make it easy for Lawrenny however, as they took eight wickets to try and prevent Lawrenny from clinching the victory. Shaun Whitfield (3-39) and Rhys Davies (2-8) did their best to hold Lawrenny back, but William Allen (23) and Alfie Buckle (23no) ensured that Lawrenny passed the target and added 18 points to their total, reducing the gab between them and Neyland to 12 points.
Herbrandston travelled to Saundersfoot looking to build on their win last week against current league leaders Cresselly. Saundersfoot opted to bat first and got off to a good start, with Tom Mansbridge (31) and Sam Franklin (21) putting on an opening partnership of 52 before the first wicket fell. John Mansbridge then joined the attack, adding a further 51 to their total. Dean John (3-29) and Nathan Banner (3-46) took three wickets each, with Scott Helmich adding a further 25 before the hosts were bowled out for 197. Charlie Malloy performed well once again for Herbrandston, with his 73 taking him past the 300 run mark for the season. Prashant Gautam (2-40) was the man to put an end to Malloy’s devastating knock, a vital wicket as Malloy proved to be one of only two Herbrandston players to score double figures. Sam Franklin (3-29) and Tom Mansbridge (2-32) seemed to have Saundersfoot on the road to victory as the rest of the Herbrandston top order were dismissed for little runs, however up stepped Morgan Britton. His 68 was enough to help Herbrandston chase down the target and win by only one wicket, as they move above Neyland into fourth place.
Whitland replicated their opening day fixture by beating Burton for the second time this season, this time at home. They chose to bowl first, with opening bowlers Gopal Ramasamy (1-22) and Geraint Jones (1-23) picking up a wicket each. Burton skipper Toby Hayman picked up his highest score of the season so far with 84. He was supported by vice captain Dan Llewellyn (36) and Jac Morgan (29no) as Burton achieved a score of 202 after their 45 overs. Gethin Scourfield (2-42) picked up two wickets, which included the top two scorers in Llewellyn and T.Hayman. He then went in to open the batting, scoring 45 and staying at the crease until the score reached 145. Luke Hayman (2-39) opened the bowling well for the visitors, picking up his two wickets in his first over which left Whitland 0-2. This is when Jonathan Thomas came in, forming a partnership with Gethin Scourfield of 135 runs, before Thomas was dismissed having scored 74. Dan Ridge (3-33) came into the bowling attack, taking three wickets in his first over. However, Scott Newton (25no) and Nico Setaro (15no) remained at the crease to ensure that Whitland passed the target and won by four wickets. This result meant that Whitland moved back above Burton in the table by seven points.
Haverfordwest scored a mammoth 296 as they beat Llangwm away from home. Llangwm opted to bowl first, with opening bowler Luke Brock (2-29) picking up his first wicket in the 16th over, leaving Haverfordwest 58-2. Ben Field entered the attack and batted well for his 46, before he was dismissed by Toby Asson (2-45). This saw Dan Field (73) and Rhys Sewell (60) at the crease. Their partnership of 111 helped to bring the score to 212-6. Chris Phillips came into bat at number eight, remaining at the crease to score 51 not out and helping Haverfordwest to reach 296-7 after their 45. In reply, Oliver Davies top scored for Llangwm with 31, however Llangwm were no match for the Haverfordwest bowling attack of Fin Atyeo (3-19), Jack Peters (3-39) and Clive Tucker (2-15) as Llangwm were bowled out for 94. Haverfordwest remain in the bottom two, however have reduced the gap to Burton to only seven points.
