Pembrokeshire, Wales — Friday August 1st 2025 — Children’s bereavement charity Sandy Bear is on a mission to raise smiles this summer – and is calling on the public to help.

Throughout August, Sandy Bear is running its Summer of Smiles campaign – a special text-to-donate fundraiser supporting children and young people across Wales who are facing the heartbreak of losing someone they love.

“No child should face bereavement alone,” said Lee Barnett, CEO of Sandy Bear. “Grief can be incredibly isolating for children and young people. Through this campaign, we’re not only raising much-needed funds but also raising awareness about the importance of early support during one of life’s most difficult experiences.”

Sandy Bear provides specialist bereavement support for children and young people aged 0–25, along with guidance and care for the families and carers around them. The charity offers a safe, supportive space for children to explore their grief, understand their emotions, and begin to rebuild.

A simple text donation of £2 can make a real difference.

To donate, text SMILEY to 70085 to give £2.

Every donation helps Sandy Bear continue delivering its vital work across Wales – supporting children and families through one of the toughest times in their lives.

“We’re asking the public to not only donate if they can,” added Lee, “but to help us spread the word. The more people who know about the campaign, the more smiles we can raise.”
