Burton (177-9) pipped Narberth (174ao) with one wicket to spare at the last moment. Narberth were put in to bat first and posted a very competitive 174, Ben Hughes (40), Jordan Howell (27), Jamie McCormack (26) and Kyle Williams (26) all contributing meaningfully to a promising total. Their side was bowled out in the second to last ball of their innings, mainly thanks to the efforts of Morgan Scale (4-18). Nick Jones (2-29) and Jack Davies (2-56) added additional pressure; the three of them could not see just how important those wickets would end up being at the time. After teas, Martin James (71) kicked off strong with a statement opening performance. His side encountered serious turbulence however, the middle order collapsed with virtually nothing to show for it, leaving it down to the tail to push a tense game over the line. Critical runs from Jack Davies (23) and Morgan Scale (15no) left their side wanting 6 runs from 9 balls with no men in the shed. The occasion did not get to John Scale (8no), who came in and blasted two fours in three balls to drag his team to victory with an over to spare.

Cresselly (126-3) brushed aside St Ishmaels (122-9) by 7 wickets in a comfortable victory on away soil. St Ishmaels batted first after winning the toss, setting Cresselly up for a chase in the second half. What ensued in the first 45 overs can only really be described as a team wide battle. Cresselly’s had six bowlers take wickets – lead by Michael Shaw (3-14) – whilst St Ishmaels shared out the runs almost equally between themselves with five batsmen scoring more than 10, yet Phil Llewellyn (19) top scoring with less than 20. Cresselly ultimately settled for 9 wickets, unable to find their final breakthrough. The second half wasn’t nearly as all-encompassing however, Kyle Quartermaine (42no) laid down the law, supported in his efforts by Alex Bayley (24no). Lewis Rhead was the pick of the bowlers for St Ishmaels going 2-30, his side barely making it to the halfway point of the innings before Cresselly knocked off the total.

Table toppers Saundersfoot (146-8) did the job against bottom place Lawrenny (145ao), keeping both extremes of the table steady. Lawrenny were put in to bat after losing the toss, producing one of their better performances of the season; Joe Kidney top-scored with 55 alongside, Harry Thomas (15) and Will Nicholas (15). Their side mainly struggled against Tom Mansbridge (5-35) whose fifer denied them command of the game. Neil Powling (2-14), Tudor Hurle (1-21) and John Mansbridge (1-22) did the rest of the damage. The second innings was no different, Tom Mansbridge (66no) also top scored, ensuring his team with an unbeaten half century. fantastic bowling from the likes of Ryan Morton (5-20) and Noah Williams (1-7) couldn’t ultimately prevent the league leaders from continuing getting the total over the line.

Neyland (167-9) beat Carew (145ao) by 22 runs, becoming the second side to usurp the previous champions’ league position in the last two weeks. Carew won the toss and elected to field, George Waters (2-21), Shaun Whitfield (2-45) and Noah Davies (1-9) being the pick of their bowlers. Of the 8 people who scored double digits for Neyland, Dai Davies (33no) and Dan Potter (26) put up the biggest totals. In opposition to that, Carew’s chase was led in majority by Gareth Lewis (69), who scored more than the rest of his side combined. Rhys Davies (27) and Brian Hall (17) put up the only other important totals in what was in the end a disappointing collapse for their side. the bowling attack led by Jack John (3-25), Tom Prichard (3-30) and Andrew Miller (2-35) shot down Carew’s hopes in the 42nd over.

Herbrandston (195ao) produced a convincing performance to beat Whitland (129ao) by 66 runs. Herbrandston chose to bat after winning the toss, Charlie Malloy (61) leading the line with a fine half-century. Robert Hood (47) supported solidly alongside Dean John (16) and Harry Nicholas (15). They couldn’t quite bat out the entire innings, mostly as a result of Matthew Davies (5-50) shredding up the lower order. Gethin Scourfield (2-37) also earned himself multiple wickets. In reply, Whitland never got going, Dylan Blain (18), Ethan Ryan (19) and Gethin Scourfield (22) top scored without a massive amount to show for it. Charlie Malloy (4-30), Paul Nicholas (2-11) and Harry Nicholas (2-17) proved to be too much when their side had nearly 200 to defend.

Division One Table (after Week 8): Saundersfoot lead on 128 points, followed by Neyland (111), Carew (110), Cresselly (97), Burton (95), Herbrandston (93), Narberth (59), St Ishmaels (47), Whitland (45) and Lawrenny (42).
