Pembrokeshire's Wild West Dragons were recently crowned WPA Ladies Interleague Division 2 champions after a dramatic final day of the season.

The WPA Presentation Evening celebrating the 2025 season was held earlier this month on Valentine’s Day (14th February 2026) at Blanco's in Port Talbot, with trophies, awards and plenty of celebrations.

The team, made up of players from Narberth and surrounding areas, went into their final fixture against Swansea Ladies knowing the title race was finely poised. Despite losing 14-11 on the day, the Dragons secured enough frames to pip Swansea to the championship after both teams finished level on 160 points.

With neither team sure how the winner would be determined in the event of a tie, there was plenty of tension as the players waited to find out if they had done enough. When the news came through that the title was theirs, the celebrations went long into the night in Swansea.

The Dragons, who play out of the RAOB Club in Narberth, will now compete in the WPA Ladies Interleague top flight next season – and they've already got off to a winning start, with a 15-10 victory over Cwmbran Wanderers in their opening fixture.

The team would like to thank the RAOB Club and Anne for their hospitality over the past two seasons.

It was also a brilliant season individually for Pembrokeshire players, with Helen Hallwood topping the division's player statistics and teammate Ann-Marie Owen finishing second. Michelle Maynard, landlady of the First & Last in Pembroke Dock who plays for the Pembroke Dockettes, also finished fourth - great representation for our county.

Captain Rachel Randles shared: “It’s been an amazing season, I’m so proud to be a part of this team, we encourage one another and help each other to improve. At the tail end of the season when the results were so close, we supported each other to remain focussed on doing our best and taking our chances whenever we could. It was a huge honour to lift the trophy on behalf of the ladies on Saturday night. I’m excited to continue our journey together this season.”

The team members are Helen Hallwood, Ann-Marie Owen, Michaela Edwards, Jess Evans, Eirwen (Eddie) Lewis, and Lynette Nicholas, with Michala Parker joining this season - a welcome addition to the squad bringing years of experience at the top level in Haverfordwest. Dazy Lloyd is also hoping to rejoin the team this season after a break from playing, having previously experiencing success with the team in 2022.

All the best for the upcoming season!
