SSA Pembrokeshire (Scorers Soccer Academy) returned from their 2026 Devon Tour with memories to last a lifetime, silverware in hand, and plenty of evidence that Pembrokeshire football is well and truly on the map.
The two-day tour on 19th and 20th February saw the academy's Under 9s, Under 10s and Under 11s travel across the border to take on some of the best youth football programmes in the South West, including Plymouth Argyle FC, Exeter City FC, Southampton FC South West and Chivenor Soccer School.
The tour kicked off with the Under 9s and Under 10s heading to Barnstaple to face Chivenor Soccer School in a series of competitive fixtures. The quality of football on show from both sides was outstanding, with the SSA players demonstrating bravery, confidence and real purpose on the ball, creating plenty of fantastic team goals.
Meanwhile, the Under 11s travelled to Paignton for a Pro Futsal Tournament featuring Plymouth Argyle Academy and Southampton. Despite never having played the futsal format before, the players adapted brilliantly – quick thinking, fast feet, sharp movement and loads of bravery saw them rise to the occasion in style.
The result? The Under 11s came away as Europa Cup winners – an incredible achievement for a group experiencing the format for the very first time. Pembrokeshire talent shining bright indeed.
All age groups came together for round robin fixtures against Chivenor Soccer School and Exeter City FC, and the standard didn't drop.
The Under 9s and Under 10s competed in fast-paced, high-intensity matches that reflected the hard work they put in week after week. Brave in possession and aggressive out of it, both squads rose to the challenge against top opposition. The Under 10s capped off a brilliant tour by being crowned festival winners after a series of outstanding, disciplined performances.
For the Under 11s, Day Two brought a new challenge – their very first experience of the 9v9 format as they prepare for next season. New spaces, new tactical demands, and they embraced it superbly, showing confidence, intelligence and real determination against a strong Chivenor side.
The SSA Devon Tour was about far more than results. It was about confidence building, friendships, growth and representing Pembrokeshire with pride. The 6-foot Welsh flags were hung, the pennants were exchanged, and the SSA family spirit was evident throughout.
Massive thanks go to Plymouth Argyle FC, Exeter City FC, Chivenor Soccer School and Southampton FC South West for their hospitality and for providing such brilliant opportunities for the players.
As SSA Pembrokeshire put it: "What a trip, what a family! We loved every second of our 2026 Devon Tour, making memories that our players will cherish forever."
