From Awards to Expansion: Pembrokeshire Hearing's Remarkable Year

What a year it's been for Pembrokeshire Hearing! We caught up with Kev and Emma to talk about the success of this fantastic Pembrokeshire business, their recent award wins and plans for the future.

What a year it's been for you both! When we spoke in January, you'd just won second place at the Swansea Bay Business Awards, and now you more recently scooped the Wales & West 'Audiology Clinic of the Year' award. How does it feel to have this kind of recognition in such a short space of time?

It's honestly been overwhelming—in the best possible way. When we were recognised at the Swansea Bay Business Awards, we were already incredibly proud. But to then go on and win Audiology Clinic of the Year for Wales & West felt like a real affirmation of the work we're doing. It's not just about trophies—it's about knowing that our commitment to clinical excellence and community care is resonating with others. We're grateful, humbled, and more motivated than ever.

It's been over a year since you joined Connect: Pembrokeshire. Looking back, how has the business evolved during that time? Have there been many changes?

Joining Connect: Pembrokeshire has given us a platform to collaborate more closely with other local businesses and amplify our voice within the community. Over the past year, we've expanded our service offerings, streamlined our patient journey, and invested in new technology to improve diagnostics and treatment. But perhaps most importantly, we've deepened our relationships—with patients, partners, and the wider Pembrokeshire network.

In our last interview, you spoke passionately about potentially supporting a local candidate through an audiology degree and opening additional clinics throughout Pembrokeshire. How are those plans progressing?

We're thrilled to say those plans are moving forward. We've built a fantastic foundation to be able to grow our services and will soon be on the search for a local candidate. We are currently exploring funding and mentorship options to support someone through an audiology degree. As for expansion, we're in active discussions about potential new clinic locations in underserved areas of Pembrokeshire. It's a long-term vision, but every step we take is rooted in accessibility and sustainability

You have spoken passionately about your "steadfast commitment to improving the lives of the local community." Can you sum up what community means to Pembrokeshire Hearing?

Community is everything. It's the reason we exist. For us, it's not just about providing hearing care—it's about being part of people's lives in a meaningful way. Whether it's offering free hearing checks at local events, supporting mental health initiatives, or simply being a friendly face in town, we believe in showing up consistently and compassionately. Pembrokeshire isn't just where we work—it's home.

You're clearly flying the flag for Pembrokeshire businesses on a national stage. What's next for Pembrokeshire Hearing? Are you in the running for any more awards?

We're always looking ahead, but our focus remains on impact over accolades. That said, we've been nominated for a few upcoming awards, and we're excited to see where that leads. More importantly, we're working on some innovative partnerships and community outreach programs that we hope will set new standards for hearing care in rural areas. Watch this space!

As we approach the Winter season, do you have any messages for readers in regards to their ear care and what Pembrokeshire Hearing services may be useful to them? What's the best way to get in touch with you and find out how you can help?

Winter brings its own set of challenges for ear health—cold weather, increased risk of infections, and even seasonal colds can all impact hearing. But it's also a time of connection. With Christmas approaching, many people will be attending family gatherings, work parties, and festive events. These environments can be especially difficult for those with hearing loss—background noise, overlapping conversations, and unfamiliar settings often make it harder to follow along, which can lead to feelings of isolation.

We encourage anyone who's noticed changes in their hearing to book a check-up before the season gets into full swing. A simple hearing assessment or ear wax removal can make a world of difference—not just medically, but socially and emotionally too. We have access to the most up to date hearing aid technology and our microsuction service is safe, effective, and available year-round.

To get in touch, you can visit our website to book online, call the clinic directly, or pop in for a chat. We're always happy to help, and we want everyone to feel included and confident this festive season.

In a wider business sense, do you have any advice for other local entrepreneurs who have ambitions to be successful in our county?

Start with purpose. Know why you're doing what you're doing, and let that guide every decision. Pembrokeshire is full of passionate, talented people—but success often comes down to consistency, collaboration, and community engagement. Don't be afraid to ask for help, share your story, and celebrate the small wins. And most importantly—stay local, stay loyal, and stay kind.
