The Brewery Inn's afternoon tea has become a proper treat worth waiting for. Following their successful VE Day trial earlier this month, they've wisely decided to offer it on the last Saturday of each month and after seeing the tempting photos, I couldn't resist booking in at the first opportunity.
At £26 per person, it represents fantastic value. Even as someone who usually gives puddings a miss, I found myself polishing off every sweet element. The homemade jam was particularly noteworthy, but it was the savoury selection that truly impressed me.
The beef brisket slider topped with "café de Paris" sauce was a standout - a clever twist on the traditional burger sauce that tasted incredible with the pulled beef and brioche bun. As a seafood lover, the salmon, apple and fennel tartlet was the real star for me. The "Salt and Smoke" salmon yet again bringing a wonderful freshness that always seems to lift a dish, paired beautifully with the crisp apple and fennel.
This monthly afternoon tea is without a doubt another welcome addition to The Brewery Inn's already stellar culinary lineup. It's clear that their kitchen team have put proper thought into both the sweet and savoury elements, creating something that feels both familiar and refreshingly different. Well worth marking your calendar for the last Saturday of the month.
