The nights are getting longer and the weather is getting slightly drier at last, which means the cricket season is fast approaching. We caught up with Tish all rounder Lewis Rhead who is looking forward to another season with the Mice.

Thanks for taking the time to chat to us Lewis. Firstly with the cricket season close now, are you looking forward to another season with the Mice?

Yes definitely. It’s nice to get together with the boys who I don’t see too often out of cricket season, so hopefully it’s another good crack this year. I’m also looking forward to a full season with youngster Tom Williams and maybe, just maybe his old man which is the legend Stevey Wills will chuck his whites on as well.

What’s Tish's aim for this season?

I would say to remain in division 1. We might be hindered with availability this year as well as losing one or two players so I think we’d be happy to give it a good go and remain in the 1st division. Also to try and have a good cup run in both the Harrison Allen and the Duggie Morris.

Having moved from Haverfordwest to Tish, it looks like a great move for you personally. Would that be right to say?

I think the move was always going to happen given my Tish connection, nothing against Haverfordwest. But yes I think the move was good for me personally and also I get to play with my old man as annoying that can be sometimes, it’s good to play in division 1 together before he decides to put his kit away for one last time. However I hope that isn’t any time soon.

Who’s your favourite to win the first division this season and who could be in a bit of trouble?

The obvious shout is Neyland and to be honest I can’t see past them. Hopefully someone runs them close but neyland have been the best team for a while now and have shown why on numerous occasions. I’d be very surprised if they didn’t win it but who knows stranger things have happened.

As for teams being in trouble I think it could be a close battle between a few sides this year, ourselves included. 2 good sides in Haverfordwest and Whitland got promoted last year and they are always hard to play against so they will provide extra competition.

I’m not sure who will go but I think it could well be decided very late on this year maybe even the last game. Where I don’t think that’s happened for a couple of years. I know we stayed up on the last day in 2021 but the last couple of years I think it’s more or less been decided with a few weeks to spare. So who knows.

Lastly we want to know a bit of inside info on Tish...

First to the bar - In fairness there is a few drinkers in the side so whoever is out first when we bat 2nd. However if we bat 1st I’d probably have to say Peter Bradshaw or Myself (if Jonny Pawlett hasn’t had a pint during the match).

Greediest at tea - Definitely 100% Phil Cockburn.

Messiest Kit - Since our changing rooms have been extended it’s hard to tell, but I’ll probably have say Brennan Devs due to his kit being extremely larger than everyone else’s (apart from his box).

Always late - Andrew Williams, given his work commitments sometimes he can be let off but willsy is always late.
