As Goodwick United prepare for their Senior Cup final clash with Clarbeston Road, we take a look at their team and what each player brings to the squad, as well as the coaching team behind their success.

Goalkeeper

Kyle Marsh

Kyle Marsh

Having missed last years final due to being cup tied, Marshy provides capable hands in between the sticks for Goodwick and has shown his quality in the big games on a number of occasions already at the club - such as his vital penalty save against Ben Steele to help seal the league title last season.

Defenders

Ben Adams

Ben Adams

A former forward converted to full back, Ben is a tireless player who epitomises the workmate demanded at the club. Strong defensively with good decision making and passing, Ben is a top all-rounder that players love to play alongside.

Stefan Hayes

Stefan Hayes

With James Bryan injured, Stefan filled in at centre-back in last years final with aplomb due to his defensive qualities in tackling and heading. Normally a left back, Stefan is equally adept at getting forward to support his team in attack.

Sion O'Sullivan

Sion O’Sullivan

Growing in importance in the Goodwick team as a useful squad player adept at playing in a number of positions such as full back or in midfield where he featured in the West Wales Cup semi-final, Sion has strong defensive and technical qualities that perfectly fit in to the clubs way of playing.

Scott Delaney

Scott Delaney (Captain)

The rock at the heart of the Goodwick defence, marshals his team excellently with strong defence attributes in every area. Also a very useful player in attack and was instrumental in a lot of the forward play last year with the ability to pick out clever long balls to the front three, whilst also providing a constant threat at set pieces.

James Bryan

James Bryan

Alongside Scott in the heart of defence as another reliable player who has established himself as one of the top centre backs in Pembrokeshire football, James’ height makes his him a commanding presence in both boxes. He missed last years final due to injury so will be delighted to be out on the Bridge Meadow this year.

Kyle Smith

Kyle Smith

The younger brother of Jake, Kyle has earned many plaudits for his outstanding performances at the heart of the defence for the 2nds team which will stand him in good stead should he be needed to step in for Scott or James. Had a run out at the end of last years finally and certainly has a big future ahead of him.

Midfielders

Luke Hayward

Luke Hayward (Vice Captain)

An experienced player sitting at the base of the midfield, Luke works hard to win the ball and allow the players in front of him to flourish. Excellent on the ball with great passing and set-pieces, the key cog in midfield to help the team tick.

Jake Smith

Jake Smith

Since joining the club from Merlins Bridge and overcoming injury problems, Jake has developed into a key player in central midfielder with his tenacity. Rhys Jones’ goals got the plaudits last year but Jake’s tireless running and passing in the centre was equally key to their win.

Steven Dockerty

Steven Dockerty

A useful player because of his ability to fit into a number of positions, including at full back last year where he linked up excellently with Will Haworth down the right flank. A strong tackler with plenty of desire, he has proven his quality again this season stepping into midfield with recent injuries and suspensions at the club.

Rhys Jones

Rhys Jones

The star of the show last year with four goals, Rhys’s numbers from midfield are truly incredible. Capable of scoring all sorts of stunning goals and a dead ball specialists, particularly from free-kicks, essentially creating his own goal of the season competition at the club. Has shown time and time again what an important player and match winner he is with key goals in big games.

Kyle O'Sullivan

Kyle O’Sullivan

The youngest O’Sullivan squad member who will undoubtedly grow into a key player for future Goodwick sides, Kyle has already shown qualities both defensive and in attack with eight goals this season including one recently against Merlins Bridge.

Attackers

Rhys Dalling

Rhys Dalling

Rhys has proven on countless occasions his importance to Goodwick with decisive goals in big matches, but what was most impressive about his performance in last years final was his ability to bring others in to play. His smart running is hard for any defence to contain, and with the pace of Will and Dan on the wings, as well as the on running Rhys Jones from midfield, he is the perfect leading man up top.

Will Haworth

Will Haworth

The younger brother of Laurie Haworth who will be playing in attack for Goodwick’s opponents, Will is always a delight to watch on the pitch with his dazzling footwork and ability to score great goals. He scored a stunning goal in the West Wales Cup semi-final and has matured into a top player who consistently produces on the big occasion.

Dan James

Daniel James

A player we can’t wait to see at the Bridge Meadow after he was cup tied last year. Dan has plenty of pace and skills giving him the ability to beat a man and is always entertaining to watch, Goodwick’s fluid front three will be a big challenge for the opponents to contain.

Jonny Horgan

Jonny Horgan

Another player who easily could have been man of the match in last year’s final. May not start every game nowadays but when he does he still shows his importance and quality with goals and assists. Monkton could not cope with his pace down the left flank last year and he is a dangerous option to have, Goodwick will be hoping he passes the late fitness tests to be involved following a recent injury.

Nathan Greene

Nathan Greene

A veteran striker with the experience of playing for big clubs in big games, Greeney has shown his qualities stepping into the side this season on a number of occasions and recently scored a hat-trick against Merlins Bridge to wet his goalscoring appetite. A hardworking target man who would love to add another trophy to his collection.

The Coaching Team

There’s no success without hard work and it is no coincidence that Goodwick United are enjoying so much success with their dedicated coaching team demanding the highest of standards from everyone involved at the club.
