Carew (129ao) beat Herbrandston (99ao) by 30 runs on the final day of the season. Carew won the toss and batted first, Tim Hicks (25) and Logan Hall (24) scoring the most in a relatively disappointing innings, Robert Hood (4-48) and Charlie Malloy (4-54) doing exceptional damage to bowl them out for just 129. It was not Herbrandston’s day to capitalize however, Kristan Bennett (36) and Robert Hood (17) lead the line in what was a collapse of their own in the second innings. Logan Hall (5-9) and Shaun Whitfield (4-16) both ended their seasons on a high by ripping through the opposition to push themselves well clear of the rest of the table in 2nd. Herbrandston themselves finished third.
Narberth (172-7) won over Whitland (170ao) by 3 wickets. Whitland won the toss and batted first, Scott Newton (28), Geraint Jones (23), Ethan Ryan (21), Jacob Hucker (21no) and Dylan Blain (19) all contributing to a competitive 170; Lewis Hough (4-23) and Rhodri Dyer (3-57) being the pick of the Narberth bowling. In reply, Kyle Williams (38) and Jordan Howell (37no) did the bulk of the work, Loui Davies (23) also chipping in. Scott Newton (3-25) and Wayne Howells (2-31) fought hard for Whitland, but the final few breakthroughs never came as Narberth eventually took the win. Narberth end the season in sixth, whilst Whitland are relegated after finishing at the foot of the table.
Saundersfoot (268-6) sealed the Division One title undefeated, beating Burton (192ao) by 76 runs. Saundersfoot won the toss and batted first, Jon Mansbridge (72) putting up another impressive performance. Franklin (51), Danny Caine (41no) and Simon Stanford (38) all supported with big totals, pushing Burton around for an expensive 268. Luke Hayman (2-52) and Gavin Campbell (2-65) were the pick of the Burton bowling. In the second innings, Burton never looked particularly close, Luke Hayman scored 44 from the middle order, but Jack Davies (23) was the only one to total over half of that. Ollie Cook (3-21), Tom Mansbridge (2-29) and Jon Mansbridge (2-37) wrapped up the win with efficient bowling, ending their season with 15 wins, 1 tie and 0 losses. Burton finished their season in 6th, never looking particularly close to being dragged into the relegation scrap.
Neyland (90-1) beat St Ishmaels (89ao) by 9 wickets in the quickest game of the week. St Ishmaels won the toss and batted first but were bowled out for just 89, Steve Williams (34) and Jonathan Pawlett (21) scoring more than half of that between them. Ross Hardy (4-21), Sean Hannon (3-30) and Andrew Miller (3-7) shared in the success as they left their batsmen with a quite simple chase. After teas, Paul Murray (38no) and Danny Potter (30no) knocked off the runs in just 13 overs, Andrew Pawlett (1-35) the lone St Ishmaels bowler to take a wicket. Neyland finish their campaign in 5th, whilst St Ishmaels find themselves relegated to Division Two next year in ninth.
Lawrenny (209-8) beat Cresselly (139ao) by 70 runs in a fine performance to end their season. Cresselly won the toss and elected to field, Mike Shaw (2-35), Tom Arthur (2-52) and Griff Jenkins (2-62) taking two apiece to deal the majority of the damage. Joe Kidney (50) and Ryan Morton (48no) were the batsmen to watch in the first innings, Charlie Arthur (27), Troy Purslowe (22) and Will Allen (22) all playing smaller roles in a total they would no doubt feel was defendable. That it was as the bowling unit of Charlie Arthur (2-36), Ryan Morton (2-17), Oscar Lewis (2-23) and Finley Lewis (3-9) succeeded in seeing Cresselly off comfortably short of their total. The pick of Cresselly’s batting were Kyle Quartermaine (29) and Griff Jenkins (17), their side missing one or two key performances to put the match in contention. Cresselly finish their season in 4th, whilst Lawrenny end their season safe in 8th, a result they will no doubt take as they spent most of the season plastered to the bottom of the table.
Final Division One Table: Saundersfoot champions on 321 points, followed by Carew (289), Herbrandston (248), Cresselly (242), Neyland (222), Narberth (177), Burton (167), Lawrenny (167), St Ishmaels (141) and Whitland (112) are both relegated.
