Solva 2nds lifted the Division Five Cup with a late winner against St Clears 2nds on Thursday 1st May, at the Observatory Ground in Hakin.

The match was played in front of around 300 spectators in a great advert for Pembrokeshire football.

Solva started the game brightly attacking "the slab" and felt aggreived not to get a penalty early on after a lunge from a St Clears defender saw loud shouts from the Solva fans for a spot-kick.

As Solva looked to press forward, utilising the pace of youngster Billy Clift, they saw a chance hit the cross bar, with the counterparts St Clears looking dangerous on the break.

The second half saw St Clears grow into the game and begin to take control, with a header clatterin ghe Solva crossbar.

Late on, player-manager Steve Trivett nearly secured a Hollywood ending for his side with a shot from the edge of the box, but it was comfortably parried by the Solva goalkeeper.

As extra time loomed, Solva broke away, with an initial shot saved by the Saints' keeper, who again stopped the rebound, before falling to Montie Lavin who buried the chance and seal the win.

With little time left for St Clears to get back in the game, Solva showed their experience to hold out for the victory.
