Pennar Robins advanced to the Senior Cup Semi-Finals with a 3-1 victory over a dogged Johnston side in tough conditions.

Following a fantastic comeback victory over Tenby in the previous round last weekend, Pennar Robins knew this was a fantastic opportunity to get to a Cup Semi-Final with home advantage too.

Off the back of their own cup success with an away victory over St Ishmaels in the Division 2 Cup Quarter-Final, Johnston were forced into a number of changes with no less than six fresh faces coming into the starting eleven, with four more on the bench.

In a closely contested first half, the hosts took the lead in the 23rd minute with Sean Edmundson scoring from a corner kick.

It proved a difficult match for either side to get flowing, with a large amount of rain pouring down.

The game remained at 1-0 for most of the tie, with both teams having chances to get goals.

In the second half, Johnston goalkeeper Andrew "Firbs" Fairbairn made a number of quality saves to keep his side in the game, before Pennar were awarded a penalty in the 77th minute.

Luke Phillips stepped up to slot home, calmly sending Firbs the wrong way, doubling the Robins lead to 2-0.

As the Tigers legs wained, Pennar were awarded another penalty just seven minutes later. This time, Firbs denied Nicholas Willis, with a fantastic save.

Pennar did make it three just a few minutes later, with substitute Craig Asparassa being set up by Ceri Griffiths.

Johnston pulled back a late consolation goal through substitute Pete Donnelly, with an assist for Captain joey George.
