Pembroke Borough took a big step towards safety after coming out on top of an eight goal thriller against Pendine, winning 5-3 in Manderwood Pembrokeshire Division Three.

The visitors took the lead through Jamie Blewitt in the 15th minute, but Boro quickly responded with an equaliser just two minutes later with Carl Rees setting up Thomas Donovan, with the two sides going in to the half time break level.

The second half was to have much more action, with Boro taking an early lead in the 49th minute with Carl Rees grabbing another assist, this time for substitute Jordan Wallace.

The hosts were reduced to ten men in the 67th minute when Thomas Donovan received his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card.

Despite having a man less, Boro extended their lead through a quickfire double from Jordan Wallace to secure a hat-trick, with boths goals being set up by substitute Stuart Ferrier.

Pendine pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute through Conor Bowen, before Jake Campbell restored Boro's three goal cushion to make it 5-2 with an assist for Kai McMurray.

Jack Bowen then got on the scoresheet for the visitors in the 86th minute but it was nothing more than a late consolation as the game ended 5-3.

The result sees Pendine remain rooted to the bottom of the table with nine points, five points from safety.

Pembroke Boro move up to eighth in the table on 18 points, eight clear of the relegation spaces.
