On Monday we brought the news that the county club had given Pembrokeshire’s cricket clubs two options to choose from by today. Option one being to cancel the first two rounds of league fixtures and write them off. The other option being is re arranging the first two rounds of Saturday fixtures to the bank holiday Monday’s in May and August respectively.

It has been confirmed that as we hoped the vote has meant that the games will now be played on bank holiday Mondays and not cancelled all together. Some clubs had reservations about availability being an issue on the bank holidays which I’m sure will affect some teams. However the news we don’t lost two rounds of league fixtures will mean for a fairer league schedule and more cricket, which is ultimately good for the sport in Pembrokeshire.

The season will now begin on Saturday the 11th of May. Groundsmen and clubs will still be desperate for some warm and dry weather before then, otherwise preparations will still be an issue.
