Hakin secured their place in the West Wales Cup Final with a victory over Carew in an all Pembrokeshire semi-final clash.

It was Carew who started brighter of the two sides with Sam Southcott finding the net for his side following a cross back into the box from Captain Sonny Phillips after Hakin failed to clear their lines.

Carew threatened a few times in an otherwise quiet opening 25 minutes, but neither side could create any clear cut chances of quality.

Hakin began to grow into the game slightly as the half went on, with a couple of long shots from Nicky Woodrow and a frustrated Ben Aldred just before half-time.

The second-half saw midfielder Jack Britton come on for Hakin, who was held up by traffic on his way to the game.

Hakin started the second period stronger and equalised when Ben Aldred scored with an excellent shot driven low into the bottom left corner.

They were then awarded a penalty after a clearance from Carew's goalkeeper Aled Davies struck his own defender's arm, perhaps a harsh decision given the close proximity of the player.

Jack Britton stepped up to take it but was denied by an excellent low save from Aled Davies to the goalkeeper's right-hand side.

In the 61st minute Carew were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box for handball, bringing out a decent save from Sam Franklin, but the next twenty minutes saw chances limited for both sides.

In the 81st minute Adam Muskett headed wide after a fantastic cross into the six-yard box, Carew's best chance of the game.

Just a few minutes later Carew's goalkeeper made an excellent save to keep his side in the game, before another Hakin chance was miss-hit comfortably into his hands.

Carew then had another late chance from a corner with Hakin's Kieran King with some excellent defending on the post to keep the ball out of the net.

As the game was coming to a close, Leon Luby beat the full-back before putting in a great ball for Nicky Woodrow to head home a winner for the Vikings.

Hakin will now face Penlan in the West Wales Cup Final on the 11th May at the Swansea.com Liberty Stadium.
